Here is my humble attempt at impressing you

The Abridged Version

I've been developing websites since I was eleven. I started off with an Angelfire account and the simple dream of impressing family friends with an awesome website about... Hmmm... I think it was about classic cars. Little did I know how far this hobby would take me.

Fast forward a few years after going beyond WYSIWYG, learning HTML/CSS, buying a few domain names, getting managed hosting, and actually making a great living as a high school student developing websites—I found my calling.

The simple fact of the matter is: I love the web. I stay on top of all the current tech trends and development breakthroughs, beta test this, learn that, and really just take in the abundance of knowledge that's literally at our fingertips.

I develop, I blog, I tweet, I update, I share, I learn, I teach, I help, I ask for help, and do everything I can to be involved in the community of some of the smartest and brightest people in the field today. It's nice to meet you.

Proficiencies

I friggin love the web and all of the amazing technologies that power it. Here's a short, color-coded list of my skills based on what you're looking for in an web developer.

  • HTML5 and Semantic Markup — Take a look at the source of the page with Firebug or Web Inspector to get a closer peek. Let me help you out with a direct validation link to the W3C right here. It goes without saying that accessibility is a must.
  • CSS3 — I'm well studied on the possibilities that CSS3 has in store for us in the very near future. In fact, some of those awesome things are happening on this page right now!
  • jQuery — I've been working with jQuery for a few years now and continue to put my skills to the test through practice, practical application, and reading... lots of reading.
  • Video Editing — I have a good deal of experience working within the Final Cut Studio as well as within Premiere (though, ya know, it's not that sweet). I can take a video from pre-production planning, through shooting, editing, and right up until delivery on the web, DVD, or other mediums that don't matter nearly as much as the first two.
  • Screencasting — I can compile screencasts quickly and efficiently to convey information of all types because: tell me I forget, show me I remember, involve me... I learn. I'm pretty sure GLaDOS from Portal taught me that. My primary tool for doing this is the awesome Screenflow, mainly because it's the best.

In addition to all that noise I'm also experienced working within several established eCommerce and content management systems. I've been a long-time Wordpress user and theme developer (my current site is Wordpress-driven) as well as an up-and-coming ExpressionEngineer. I've also been known to develop the occasional theme for a Big Cartel or Shopify store and have experience working within Magento for larger-scale projects.

Tools of The Trade

Here are just a few of the awesome apps that I love to use when working on projects of all shapes and sizes. I'm a die-hard Mac user, but have been known to boot into Windows for testing websites in Internet Explorer. And just for a good laugh sometimes.
